Sunday Ratings | THE VOICE AUSTRALIA triumphant on a massive night

THE BLOCK lands a clear second as the AUSTRALIAN SURVIVOR finale is bumped to third.

No question the finale of The Voice Australia (1,338,000 avg (1,292,000 show; 1,383,000 winner)) delivered for Seven. Every episode of this season has been above one million just on overnights, and this was a suitably massive end and much needed win. Homicide: With Ron Iddles (592,000) bounced up due to the ratings halo, even helping Surviving 9/11 (204,000) win its slot. No questioning this was a huge Sunday for the home of the big red train.
Seven first in both primary (27.1%) and network (33.5%) rankings.

The Block (952,000) delivers another room reveal and big numbers for Nine, fighting against two big finales (well, OK one big finale). Slipped on last week, as did 60 Minutes (520,000). The First 48 (146,000) does reasonable business however finishes second in late night.
Nine second in both primary (20.3%) and network (29.3%) rankings.

The Sunday Project (320,000 6:30pm; 446,000 7pm) way down on the usual numbers. 10’s “experiment” to shift the finale of Survivor Australia (854,000 avg (785,000 show; 923,000 winner)) really didn’t pay off. It did to the best numbers all season, however what could it have achieved last Tuesday with next to no competition–and certainly no Voice finale?! Has to go down as one of the worst programming decisions of 2021. New FBI (248,000), and then repeats of FBI: Most Wanted (140,000) and FBI (95,000) finish what ended up being a lacklustre Sunday for the perennially third/fourth ranked network.
10 third in both primary (13.8%) and network (18.8%) rankings.

Everything on the ABC got a short shrift due to all the noise on the commercial channels. David Attenborough’s Global Adventure (391,000) was down,as was The Newsreader (386,000) and Traces (147,000). A repeat of Les Norton (76,000) finishes up Sunday.
ABC fourth in both primary (9%) and network (11.8%) rankings.

SBS’s Sunday rolls with two new programs at the top. Ob-doc
Inside Central Station (243,000) and documentary series Australia Uncovered: Strong Female Lead (131,000) do OK though up against some massive programming. They should both do better in next week’s Total TV figures. Vaccine: The Inside Story (87,000) rounds out the schedule.
SBS fifth in both primary (4.6%) and network (6.7%) rankings.
